Trivia

Don Grady was about to sign the contract for the part of Andy Sherman
in "Laramie" when Bobby was chosen for the part instead.
Don was very upset, but soon got the part of Robbie Douglas
in the show "My Three Sons", which ran for 12 years.

"Not only did I almost get it... I had done two film tests for it, and after two weeks,
was called into the casting office to sign the contracts. As I was sitting there
they told me to hold on. My heart sank... I knew something had happened.
They had just seen Bobby on "Child of Our Times"... Playhouse 90 (I think)...
and decided to go with Bobby. It was a huge heartbreak for me...
I loved westerns. I loved the drama, the era... the horses!
I really thought that was the end for me. Then, My Three Sons came along."

During a radio interview, Don also mentions Bobby getting the part on Laramie.

You can hear it about a minute and a half into the interview.

Incidentally, Bobby was a guest on two "My Three Sons" episodes in 1968.

Bobby was in charge of sales and promotion for Canterbury Records, which was formed in 1966. One of the albums they produced was The Yellow Balloon. Don Grady was in the band, in disguise, and going by the name Luke R. Yoo. He is pictured second from the left on the cover.
Bobby is mentioned on the back cover as the artist's inspiration for the album design.

The promotional pictures of "Laramie" were shot in the home of silent film star
Harold Loyd. He was a photography enthusiast and converted his handball
gameroom into a studio. The marks on the wall in the background
were caused by previous games.

During the filming of "Child of Our Time", Bobby's head was shaved.
He still had almost no hair when he was cast for "Laramie".
When his black hair started growing out, it was dyed to match John Smith's,
who was his older brother in the show.
